All businesses start with an idea!

Remember you said you don’t know where to start with your business.

All businesses start with an idea. An idea is worth pursuing will become your passion. Your passion will give you the real purpose to do what you love. Start to do a bit of your business at a time and eventually it will shine!

Block of Marble
  Statue of David

Like Michael Angelo creating David, he first saw the end result of his masterpiece then he started chipping away at the block of marble every day. Each day his aim was for a better day than yesterday and each day the marble took form and eventually the marble block transformed into the statue of David...his renowned master piece.

Doesn’t it sound so easy and simple? For Michael Angelo it was second nature as he had found his passion and he had plans and systems in place in order for to him to achieve his work.

Once you know what your passion is, everything else seems like a piece of cake and everything sails forward.

In relation to our life and business we do need to set goals, map out where we want to be  and the process to get there too.

So start with the end in mind... Set your purpose goals, write your clear business' vision and learn how to build a great business by having a great plansystem so you have control of your time...

So do you have an idea for a business?

Have you found your passion?

We’d love to hear from you. Please leave us a comment.

What is Dream & what is goal?

I really like this quote. We can all relate to this and particularly for you as an artist or designers.
We all have dreams whether they are big or small. Dreams give us hope for our future. To achieve our dreams that is where goals will play a major role in helping us achieve our dreams.
Remember, a goal without an action plan is just a wish. And in the real world, wishes don't often come true.

But what if you had a way to eliminate all the distractions that hold you back from getting what you want?

Imagine cutting through the clutter to get to the heart of your true desires. How confident would you feel knowing you had definite goals and a plan to ensure your success in finally achieving your dreams?

Once you know what you really want, you gain clarity. With clarity, you gain focus. With focus, you get results!
Sounds like an easy thing to do, but without a concrete plan and incremental steps, it will be difficult to achieve anything worthwhile.

Dream and Goals are two separate things and a lot of people get confused and thinking that goals are dreams and dreams are the same as goals.

So what is the difference between a Dream and a Goal?

A dream is your long-term desire and you shouldn’t be able to achieve it in a flash. If you can achieve your desire in a week, a month, three months or even six months, your dream is too small and you need to crave for bigger things. Dreams are the desires that will drive you to achieve your goals and provide you with the motivation to complete all the tasks that you’ll need to complete.

Your dreams should be things that get you excited yet perhaps infuse some fear and get you to find answers to your own questions like, "How am I going to get there?" Remember this, if your dream is truly worthy, you would do anything to achieve it, no matter what!

A goal on the other hand is a stepping stone that leads you towards your dreams. A goal is something you can achieve in a short period of time...like in an hour, days or even weeks. So set purpose goals that will help you get closer to your dreams.

Your goals should not take years to achieve. If you have one perhaps you need to portion your goal down to smaller tasks so you can achieve your goals sooner. A long term goal will more than likely discourage you from achieving your result as it keeps dragging on to the point where you start to self sabotage with your head chatter telling yourself “I am not getting anywhere, this goal is too hard, too much work”. So what do you do? You give up and start working on other things beside your goals!!!

In short, a dream is a HUGE thing that takes time to achieve whereas a goal is easier to manage and is something you can get it done in a short period of time. Goals are like a way patting yourself on the back for doing things to move your life forward in the right direction.

Are We There Yet ?

Focus on your  Planning and your Destination !

Let's say if you don't know where you're going then how are you going to get there?

What do we mean by that?

It's very difficult to get where you want to go without a destination in mind.

Would you get in a car and just drive?

No I guess not!

To get from point A to point B you need a plan or a direction.

How often do we hear someone ask this question "Are we there yet?

and how does the person know if you are there yet if you are just out driving with no destination in mind?

In relation to our life and business we do need a road map to get where we want to be too.

So start with the end in mind... Set your purpose goals, write your clear business' vision and learn how to build a great business by having a great plan & system so you are taking control of your time...

A wise man once said "We should spend 20% of our time planning. If that seems over the top, spend a little time calculating how much time it has cost you over the years fixing mistakes, redoing tasks, or simply mudding your way around, and 20% will start to look like a small amount of time."

Using Sport as an example, Tennis player Serena Williams spends hours and days planning before her match. Her coach works with her to ensure she knows the game plan and with the ultimate aim of winning the match.

Therefore, never underestimate the power of a good plan. The key is to know what to put in it, and actually doing it too. This means understanding the goal setting process, and how this is achieved by more than simply having a good idea.

How to Select Purpose Goals in your Art and Design Business

Setting goals is easy and setting purpose goals will need more of your time to plan and to reflect on why you want to set  those goals in the first place?.

Successful goals come from within you and it will empower and motivate you to achieve your outcomes, this is the reason why at ArtSHINE we would like you to firstly define your DPP "Desire, Passion and Purpose" (part 1 & 2)

So get very specific with your goals. Be very clear on what it is that you want. Visualise what it is that you’re aiming for. And remember to write your goals in the present tense as if you have already achieved it too.

Setting your  purpose goals with passion is something you can accomplish in a reasonable amount of time. Your goals should not take you years to achieve, because then you’ll get discouraged. Your head chat will be telling you “I am not getting any where and it is too hard, too much work”. So you give up and work on other things besides your goals. This is how  procrastination comes about.

To help you get started, here are some of the questions that you can work on before you select you purpose goals.

1. What is one thing you would like to change about yourself and your business lifestyle?
2. Suppose you succeed in accomplishing this change. How would things be  different for  you  and your business lifestyle?
3. Does this outcome represent a change in yourself or for someone else?
4. How feasible is this change?
5. What are some of the risks to you or others of this change?
6. What would be your payoff for making this change?
7. What would you be doing, thinking, or feeling as a result of this change you would like to make for yourself and your business lifestyle?
8. In what situation do you want to be able to do this?
9. How much or how often would you like to be able to do this?
10. Looking at where you are now and where you'd like to be, are there some steps  along  the way to get from here to there?  If so, rank them in an ordered  list from :
  • "Easiest to do now" to
  • "Hardest to do"
11. Identify any obstacles (people, feeling, ideas, and situations) that might interfere with attaining your goal.
12. Identify any resources (skills, people, knowledge) that you need to use or acquire to attain your goal.
13. How could you monitor and review progress toward this outcome?

Setting Goals, Make Choices & Not Making Excuses

It doesn't matter what your goals are, the process of achieving your Personal or Business goals are very much the same.

As a Business LifeStyle coach working with clients every day, we firstly help our clients to define their goals. Then help them see the value of making good choices, and not making excuses.

As your coach we help you to understand why you want to achieve your goals and what is the real purpose for achieving them.

The 'Real Purpose" behind why you want to achieve your goals is the key to reaching your goals and becoming successful in what you do.

Making Good Choices: Real Purpose will stop you making excuses and getting caught in the procrastination trap. In fact it will empower you to do more as every thing you do will have a real sense of purpose in your life. The more you achieve your goals, the more confident and successful you will become. As you start to recognise and enjoy these accomplishments it will also give you a wonderful sense of well being.

Do you need a plan and direction in accomplishing your goals?

Just to let you know, there is no magic pill... It will take work, sometimes hard work.

But where there is a plan and specific steps in place, your goals can, and will be accomplished.
Success is straight ahead and not around the corner.

It's time to learn the difference between making choices and making excuses.
