Approximately
70 per cent of small businesses will never grow or make a huge profit. Do you
want to know why?
Sometimes
it’s all down to you and your ego that’s stopping you from reaching your true
potential.
So
– how do you achieve substantial business growth?
In
order to be a success with your art and design business you need to think like
a successful business owner too. It is all about your mind set and how you see
yourself and your business.
Your
beliefs are powerful.
Beliefs
affect your ability to see opportunities, and they affect your mood, your
risk-taking and ultimately your success. Many people have beliefs that limit
them, beliefs that just aren’t true, but that you hold onto anyway.
Here's
an example: a lot of creative businesses will stop their minds to growth and
success because they think "I have been in business for a long time and I
know everything there is to know about my industry." - The big ego
thinking approach.
If
you think you know everything, you will give yourself a chance of learning
nothing at all. That is a mindset you set yourself from not learning and
receiving something new.
In
fact we learn something new every single day from observing around us, and
learning from one another. However if you choose to narrow your focus amid the
day to day challenges of running your business, you are stopping yourself from
discovering the wealth of amazing achievements awaiting you just around the other side.
So
leverage time to learn from your peers and colleagues and particularly your
competitors. Allocate time to learn about successful businesses and investing
in some quality time at related workshops, seminars and trade shows or work along
with a business coach or a mentor who can help you grow. You'll be surprised at
how much information and inspiration you can receive.
Think
and Act like a Super Star!
Every
successful entrepreneur thinks like a superstar star. They believe in
themselves and, more importantly, they invest in themselves and in their
business, they are always open and they are not scared to take some calculated
risks.
Everyone
knows about Coco Chanel, a visionary who turned herself from a business woman
and dressmaker into an enduring fashion and cultural icon. She changed the
fashion world in her time because Coco never stopped experimenting, always
challenged herself out of her comfort zone in developing and designing world
breaking fashion.
Another
iconic successful businessman, Richard Branson has triumphed over the world by
using lateral and innovative thinking. The business world would not be the same
today if he wasn't as open-minded and adventurous as he is. We need to challenge ourselves and do things that are out of our comfort zone.
Sometimes
we hold on to things too tight and we won’t let go like having our fingers so
firmly rested on the pulse of our business that we are unable to see things
for how they really are.
So
remember... think outside the square!
Let
yourself loose once in a while and be the observer in your business.
So
think big and act bigger!
